President– Mr. Royston La Hee
Mr. La Hee has held the title as President of the Grenada Olympic Committee since 1994. With over 15 years experience as President he has seen both the GOC and sports develop greatly in the country. Mr. La Hee has been involved in a variety of sports in the country including football and basketball. While involved with football he served as treasurer, general secretary and president.. While with basketball he served as president. He is currently the Divisional Director of Automotive at Geo. F, Huggins. Mr. La Hee is very excited about the upcoming Olympic year and is very optimistic about Grenadian Athletes competing in London. He is positive that their hard training and dedication will pay off.
Mr. La Hee is married to Veronica, has 4 daughters, 5 grandchildren and another on the way. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, going to the beach and directing his church choir.
General Secretary- Mrs. Veda Bruno-Victor
Mrs. Veda Bruno–Victor currently holds the role as General Secretary of the Grenada Olympic Committee. She has been involved with the GOC since 1984 . Mrs. Bruno-Victor is also the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, with both roles keeping her very busy. Sports have always been a passion for her and she continues to remain active in many different ways. A former national netball athlete, she captioned the West Indies Netball Team and traveled to Australia, England and throughout the Caribbean. She was a physical education teacher at the Anglican High School for 12 years.
Mrs. Bruno-Victor is an Executive Member of PASO (Pan American Sports Organization), recently traveling to Guadalajara for the Pan American Games. She has had the opportunity to travel to multiple international sporting events, including the Olympic, Commonwealth and Pan American Games. Mrs. Bruno-Victor was presented with an award from the Queen of England for her service to sports in Grenada and the Caribbean. She continues to be passionate about developing sports in Grenada and is extremely excited about the fast approaching 2012 Olympic Games.
Assistant General Secretary -Lucy Steele
Since 2000 Lucy Steele has been the Asst. General Secretary of the Grenada Olympic Committee. She was the former President and Secretary of GASA before joining the G.O.C. Mrs. Steele has served as the Chef de Mission for five (5) international games, the XIX CAC Games in El Salvador in 2002, XVII Commonwealth Games in Melbourne 2006, XV Pan Am Games in Rio 2007and III Commonwealth Youth Games in 2008 in Pune, India, and the first Olympic Youth Games in Singapore in 2010. She has been active with the Olympic Academy through which she shares the rich values of the culture of life with our young members of the Olympic Academy. She encourages them to seek their goal and purpose in life’s journey as ordained by the Creator and their own giftedness.
She firmly believes that ‘Everybody is somebody’ and her message is generally ‘Bloom where you’re planted’.
There is no reason why others can’t enjoy the blossoms of your efforts and let your journeying leave a better place after you are gone.
In 1968 the accounting firm of Pannell Fitzpatrick transferred Lucy to the Isle of Spice where she met and married Derick John Steele. Her two sons are Nickolas and Johnathan Steele. Her latest joy is that of a doting grandmother to Justin, Russell and Savannah. She has been both a career and committed family woman who now enjoys her retirement as she assists the G.O.C as is requested.
1st Vice President-
Mr. Ray P. Roberts - 2nd Vice President
Mr. Ray Roberts currently holds the position of 2nd Vice President of the Grenada Olympic Committee. He is also currently the General Secretary for the Grenada Trades’ Union Council and the Public Relations Officer for the Public Workers’ Union. He completed his Associates Degree at Miami Dade Community College in 1987. Mr. Robert’s sporting background has seen him involved in table tennis, representing Grenada at the Windward Islands table tennis championships in 1973 in Dominica. He also represented Grenada in Caribbean table tennis from 1975-1983 and a championship competition in Scotland. Mr. Roberts Represented Grenada at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He served as General Secretary for the Grenada Boxing Association from 1987 to 1994 and Secretary for the Grenada Table Tennis Association from 1978 to 1985 and 2006 to 2011. Mr. Roberts has served as St. George’s Cricket Council Representative for the Grenada Cricket Association. He has held roles with Radio Grenada as sports editor from 1979 to 1985 and news director from 1989-2005. While attending college he worked as an editor for the Falcon Times. Mr. Roberts has served as President of the Grenada National Council for the Disabled from 1995-2003.Mr. Kingsley Ashby
Mr. Kingsley Ashby joined the Grenada Olympic Committee in 2000 as the 2ndVice President after being an active member of the National Swimming Association for more than ten years. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Grenada Olympic Committee. Mr. Ashby is a Commercial Banker by profession and brings to the Grenada Olympic Committee a wealth of financial knowledge and experience.
He is happily married with two grown children, both of whom were National swimmers and represented Grenada at national, regional and one participated in the Olympic Games of Athens 2004.
