The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Religious Affairs in collaboration with The Grenada Olympic Committee, extends an invitation to all persons involved in sports to participate in the sharing of specialised information in the area of Long Term Athlete Development. 

Dates: 27th to 30th June 2016 ( If needed 4th to 7th July) 
Time: 9:00 to 11:30am
Venue: National Stadium

Presenter: Valencia N. E. Sihera (MSc., BSc.)

 

Topic: Long Term Athlete Development for Grenada

Sub topics include:

  • Critical stages to develop various capacities in children/athletes
  • How to develop the various capacities in sports
  • Critical analysis of the various sporting requirements
  • Current contextual reality in our country
  • Analyse LTAD of Canada, Uk and countries within the Caribbean
  • The path to creating a Grenadian LTAD for the various sports ‘9 months project’.

 

Requirement: Walk with your laptop and flash drive if possible.

  • An open mind to share and actively participate
  • Be punctual

GRENADIAN ATHLETES FOR T&T, OECS CHAMPIONSHIPS

ST GEORGE’S, June 21, 2016 – Grenadian athletes are preparing to participate in at least five track and field championships ahead of the Rio Olympic Games next month.

The Grenada Athletics Association (GAA) says in addition to the National Championships at the National Stadium this weekend, local athletes will also participate in the Trinidad and Tobago National Championships, the OECS Championships, the NACAC Under-23 Championships and the IAAF World Junior Championships.

STRONG FIELDS SET TO COMPETE IN 2ND OECS CHAMPIONSHIPS

TORTOLA, June 22, 2016 - Organisers are expecting 150 visiting athletes and officials for the 2nd OECS Track and Field Championships scheduled for Tortola on July 2-3, at the A. O. Shirley Grounds, with non-OECS member Puerto Rico’s Women’s 4x100m Relay team seeking to solidify their #16 ranking for the Rio Olympic Games.

The Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago, have also shown interest, with the Bahamas looking at its Women and Men’s 4x100m and Women’s 4x400m and Trinidad and Tobago’s Women’s 4x400m Relay squads.
